Tourist Attractions

  1. Gaien

From the Marunouchi central exit of JR Tokyo Station, you go straight several blocks on the flat and wide street between the Marubiru and Shin-Marubiru buildings.
You will arrive at the Imperial Palace. Facing the palace, the area to the left is called Kokyo Gaien(park), which contains Nijubashi and Sakurada-mon(gate).
The grounds around Sakurada-mon (gate) are paved, but are not at Nijubashi (Double Bridge) Generally the area is flat, however.

  2. Higashi Gyoen (park)

Going out of the Marunouchi central exit of JR Tokyo station headed for the Imperial Palace, you will see Sakashita-mon gate crossing. Here, you turn to right and go along the moat of the Imperial Palace, you will see Ote-mon (gate) that leads to Higashi Gyoen (park).
There is no entrance fee. The road connects the two gardens is a long slope. There are two other ways to enter Higashi Gyoen (park), Hirakawa-mon and Kitahanebashi-mon.

  3. Kitanomaru Park

From the Kudanshita Station of Tokyo Metro Tozai Line, the Tayasu-mon entrance to Kitanomaru Park can easily be seen. The roads around the exit of the station are wide but sloped, especially the entrance site, which is so steep that some assistance will be needed.
If you come from Takebachi Station of Tokyo Metro Tozai Line, it is better take the flat road that faces Inui-mon. The park contains the Budokan Hall, Science Museum, National Museum of Modern Art and Modern Art Museum Craft Gallery.
The roads are wide and paved inside the park.

  4. Chidorigafuchi

Getting out at Kudanshita Station of the Tozai Line and passing by Tayasu-mon, you will find a sidewalk which runs along the Uchibori (inner moat). The area is called Chidorigafuchi. It is a famous place for it's cherry blossom viewing in the spring. The road is paved and flat.

  5. Yasukuni Shrine

In the area around Kudanshita Station of the Tozai Line, the roads are sloped. From the station, take the opposite side of the road of Kitanomaru Park. There is an entrance to Yasukuni Shrine just across from Tayasu-mon, Going through the Torii (gate), you will see the main building (Honden) built in dedication to Japanese soldiers who died in World War II. The Honden area is paved but the other sites of the Shrine are graveled. To avoid the graveled roads inside. You should enter the shrine from Kita-Mon (gate).

  6. Hibiya Park

The park is close to Hibiya Station of Subway Chiyoda Line. It is rich with a large variety of trees, and flower gardens and has ponds too.
The Hibiya Library and Hibiya Public Hall are in it. The park roads are paved and flat.
