In Tokyo, you can find a wide variety of restaurants. Most of them are open from 10:00 to 22:00, though some open at around 17:00. In Japan, it is not customary to tip, but a 5% consumption tax and sometimes a 10% service charge or Luxury tax are added to the bill.
- Japanese: Dishes are often served in a tatami-matted
room, where using wheelchairs is usually
not allowed. So it would be better to call
ahead to make sure that there are appropriate
facilities to fit your needs.
- As you wander around Tokyo, you will find
many restaurants with a display case showing
the dishes available inside. Dishes at such
restaurants are reasonably priced. In general,
these restaurants are available to people
in wheelchairs. (Still, some are not.)
- Fast food restaurants are widely available.
Ramen and curried rice restaurants can be
found at almost every train station, but
they are often equipped with high counter
and fixed stools.
- On the upper floors of most department stores, you will find a variety of restaurants. These are usually reasonably priced and have no steps or doors at their entrances. See pages for Department Stores
