Money Exchange

Since personal checks are not widely used in Japan, it is wise to bring some cash for transportation and small purchases.

Traveller's checks can be cashed at major banks in Tokyo displaying the sign "Authorized Foreign Exchange Bank," or at hotels and department stores. Passports are required.
