When you send a letter or a package, the easiest way is to get assistance from staff members at the front desk of your hotel. Airmail rates for a standard-size postcards is 70 yen to send to any location worldwide and for letters under 10 grams.

Post offices dot Tokyo. Major post offices have good access with ramps and automatic doors. English signs also exist along with most Japanese signs. If you can't find a post office, your hotel most likely has stamps for sale. Stamps can also be bought at hotels and tobacco shops.

Business hours differ in each post office. Most of post offices usually are open from 9 :00 to 17 :00 on weekdays (some post offices are open until 19:00 ). On Sundays, post offices are closed except for the Tokyo International Post Office and Tokyo Central Post Office ( open 24 hours, 7 days a week) . On Saturdays larger post offices may be opened.
